Reverend William H. Buie, Jr. serves as Senior Pastor at the First Calvary Baptist Church of Rock Hill, South Carolina since 2008.  His job is to lead the congregation in faithful response to the direction of God’s Spirit … which has expanded the church congregation from 45 members to 500 members.

In 1992, and through the help of Reverend Dr. Morris Shearin, Reverend Buie entered Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.  He later graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelors of Arts and Science Degree in 1996.   In his first year of college, Reverend Buie was licensed to preach the gospel under the authority of the late Reverend Dr. Pervis “Fireball” McKenny.  In his final year at Shaw University Reverend Buie was ordained to preach the gospel at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina under the leadership of the late Reverend Ervis Allen and was catechized under the leadership of his current Pastor the Reverend Dr. David C. Forbes.

After graduating from Shaw University, Reverend Buie entered Princeton’s Theological Seminary where he received a Degree of Master of Divinity in 1999.  During the matriculation process at Princeton, Reverend Buie experienced teaching “Systematic Theology“ at Saint John’s College in Durham, England.   Also during Reverend Buie’s time of studies at Princeton, he served at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens of New Jersey under the leadership of Senior Pastor, the Reverend Dr. DeForest Soaries, Jr.  Part of Reverend Buie’s responsibility was the development of a drug ministry, which he designed specifically for First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.

Furthermore, Reverend Buie severed as an instructor at Drew Theological Seminary while at First Baptist Church.  Reverend Buie has had the benefit of teaching at the Washington Baptist Seminary School in Washington. DC. Currently Rev. Buie serves on several community boards.

Born in New York City and raised in Washington, DC, Revered Buie resides in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  He has two sons, Noah Adams and William H. Buie, III (Trey) and one daughter, Onisha Woodard.
